The Journey To Success

Do you have a dream that you are awaiting to fulfill? Or are you  consistently struggling to achieve a goal? Do you feel like you are making no progress despite all your hard work like you are spinning in a circle?   If you answered yes to these three questions, then this blog is for you!

The Journey to Success is not easy, believe me!  I have struggled and jumped over so many hurdles to get where I am in life. My learning disability is my strength, not my weakness. There is a stigma that those with special needs are weak and limited to their ability. I want to let you know there are #nolimits to what we can achieve!

Join me on this journey to success! I want to share with you, my personal stories of inspiration and motivation that helped me to overcome the challenges I have faced. Your special needs may be different than mine but you do not have to overcome the challenges alone. We are on this journey together!

Back To School.. Back To Success.

Summer is over! No more sleeping in or taking mid-afternoon naps. No more staying up late watching TV (who watches TV anymore anyways?)  or playing games. It time for the real fun to begin. Back to school season is here.  While some may be excited about returning to the classroom. Others may still be haunted by last school year experience. Everyone has a chance at success regardless of your track record, the problem many students make when going back to school is setting goals. The definition of success is relative to the individual, however, the formula is still the same.

I know every year I would go back to school with a new attitude, fresh enthusiasm and a mind full of wishes, which I thought were goals. The common mistake many students make. The real tough part is setting and taking action on our goals. This where many fail. However, this year does not have to be a repeat. Getting back to school and on the track to success requires a clear definition of your goals and what it is you hope to achieve this new school season. If you want to make this a back to success school year. Follow this simple formula below

Define Your Goal

The difference between wanting to pass math class and wanting to achieve an A.  When you are specific and clearly state what it is you are trying to achieve it becomes easier in designing and creating a plan. Before you can start moving you need to clearly know the direction you want to head in.

Give it a Deadline

Once you have defined your goals, determine when you want to achieve it. Setting a deadline will distinguish your goal from a wish. It will help guide you in planning and action plan to achieve your goal and keep you focused.

Commit to IT

One you define your goal and you know what you have to do to achieve it, WRITE IT DOWN!!!  Once you have that goal on paper or even on your phone. Just make sure you make that goal a written commitment that is visible to you.

Make a Plan

Your Plan will serve as your roadmap on this journey. Once you have a deadline work backward and break your goal into smaller goals. Identify what it is you have to do to reach your goal, when will you have to accomplish the smaller goals and when. Each small step of the plan will work together to create a big picture.

Establish Harmony

All work and no play are no fun!  Create a harmony, not balance. Make sure you spend some time to have fun and celebrate your accomplishments along the way.

Success is  not to be achieved overnight. It is a practice and a process. Understanding the formula is the first step towards change. This is a new journey, focus on progress, not perfection. Even I have my down days, the important thing is no matter what happens to be always taking a step forward. One day you will look back and realize how far you have come.
