Your special needs may be different than mine but you do not have to overcome the challenges alone. We are on this journey together!

Reflect, Revise & Retry

WELCOME to November! Almost to the end if 2016 and halfway through the first semester of the school year. This can be an uneasy time for many, as we draw near to receiving final marks. This is the season to check and reflect o your progress.

Slowly you will be receiving results back from exams or assignments giving an overview of where you are sitting overall in the course. Depending, where some students are sitting on the scale near or below the 50 mark this can be an uneasy and discouraging time. This is just the first quarter of the school year. If you need help turning your grades around and finishing strong here are some tips to guide you on your journey.

REFLECT  No matter how painful it may be, always look at your mark and read the comments and see your mistakes. This will help you insight on the areas you need help in. Was there a specific unit that you did not understand? What did you do well in and where did you excel? Could you have done better, if so how and where? It is really important to pinpoint the cause of our mistakes in order to correct them. Be honest with yourself and even check-in with your emotions and identify your strength and weakness. Are you on track with your goals for the school year?

Reflect on the semester to date. What would you change?

REVISE  With a clear understand on where you can improve it is time to put in a new plan for success.  “When you fail to plan, you plan to fail”  In order to correct your mistakes and change your results there needs to be an establish actionplan. Usually, this requires a change of behaviour. Is there a habit that you need to change ? It could be as simple as setting an extra 30 minutes a day to review your notes. It is the consistency in the smallest action that has great value on success in the long run. Or maybe you need someone to help you with your study like a tutor?  Make the change in your plan.

RETRY Do not be discourage.  The school year is not over, you still have the opportunity and time to improve and make a comeback. Winners never quit and quitters never give up.  Three simple ingredients that lead to success: learn from our mistakes, implement change and try again.  You still go this, finish strong!
